Topic:

Our two guest speakers have several decades of Knowledge Management experience between them across multiple countries.  Both eventually landing in KM roles in major blue chips in Australia.

We have invited them both along to share their most recent adventures in the world of Knowledge Management:-

From Patricia’s perspective, she will share the challenges, surprises and rewards of trying to implement “KM” in a major financial institution – and the different perceptions of “KM” held by the powers that be.

While Matt’s perspective is … “Clayton’s – The knowledge management you do when you’re not doing knowledge management.  What do you do when everyone says they want to manage their knowledge better but no one wants to do anything about it?  How do you cope with magical beliefs in the power of technology?”

About Patricia Walters:

Tricia has 20+ years’ experience as a Knowledge and Research Manager across a wide range of industry sectors. At Accenture she covered Consumer & Industrial products and Communications & Media in AsiaPac. At PwC she commenced in the Audit and Assurance sector for AsiaPac, before taking the role of global e-Business KM and then ran the Resources (mining, oil & gas and utilities) and Government KM programs.  More recently in Financial Services she set up a knowledge base covering Finance and Transport, before moving into the Transport Infrastructure business with Transurban. Her expertise is developing and applying knowledge strategies, identifying knowledge requirements/gaps to help employees do their daily work/develop their careers and implementing the most appropriate way to address these. This usually involves pinpointing and joining up the dots between individuals and teams who don’t have time or inclination to do so themselves. She has consistently worked with global teams, sourcing and cross pollinating best practice. All her roles have been ‘first of a kind’ so she has had to get up to speed with new topics and environments and adapt her approaches accordingly.
