NSW KM Forum proudly presents our next Speaker in our Innovative Knowledge Series: “Unlearning”

“Alvin Toffler once stated: The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.”

In this session Rob Wilkins, Leader of Information Management Systems for the NSW Department of Education joins us to discuss how unlearning is a deliberate purposive action just like learning and that knowledge is not an accumulative  construct but rather, knowledge continuously grows and becomes obsolete as we deliberately unlearn that which cannot be supported by our reality.  We will explore the challenges of technology and the digital literacy required to actively unlearn and relearn and confront why we need to unlearn that which is no longer helpful or accurate.  He will also talk to why deep machine learning and artificial intelligence present an amazing vehicle for unlearning and relearning based on facts and little or no opinion.
